During the early hours this morning, while on regular patrols on Brixham Road, Mi7 Reaction Officers were confronted by a gnarly scene. Two large dogs were viciously attacking another in the middle of the roadway.
The Reaction Officer immediately intervened, getting out of the vehicle to separate the dogs. Two ran off, leaving the smaller dog, which was attacked, with severe wounds. It was left shivering, bloodied, and with very little energy.
The Reaction Officer picked up the animal, loaded it into the back seat of the patrol car, and immediately drove it to our friends at the SPCA for medical attention.
None of the animals had collars, so if any resident in the area is missing a dog, we urge them to contact the Pietermaritzburg SPCA.
At Mi7, our commitment extends beyond protecting people – we protect all lives, including man’s best friend.
