Eastern Cape SAPS and Department of Transport Urge Families to Assist in Identifying R63 Crash Victims

The Eastern Cape SAPS, in collaboration with the Department of Transport, is calling on families whose relatives may have been travelling from Qonce to Cape Town on Saturday, 03 May 2025, to come forward for identification.

This follows a devastating head-on collision between a minibus taxi and a bakkie on the R63 near Maqoma (Fort Beaufort), about 90km from Qonce, which claimed 15 lives.

The deceased have been taken to the Maqoma Government Mortuary. Families seeking to confirm whether their loved ones were involved are urged to contact: Captain Fete (SAPS Maqoma)- 082 090 2742

Authorities are working to expedite the identification process and provide support to affected families.
