A man was beaten after he snatched the handbag of an elderly female on the corner of George Sewpersad & Ireland Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN a short while ago (Thursday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene after receiving reports that a large mob was assaulting a man with whips, pangas and bricks. On arrival, Reaction
Officers established that the male snatched the handbag of an elderly female who was using a cane to aid her while walking. Onlookers perused and apprehended the suspect before they began beating him. The victim’s valuables were recovered and handed back to her.
The suspect was released after she declined to register a criminal case.
