MasterDrive is proud to mark 26 powerful years of creating safer roads and saving lives by prioritising driver training as a key part of success. Over the years MasterDrive has also launched several other initiatives also committed to the promotion of road safety.
The organisation began 26 years ago and has since expanded across South Africa with branches in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Gqeberha. MasterDrive also has a strong presence in Africa providing training in countries such as Ethiopia, Botswana, Malawi and Uganda. Our growth is fuelled by a drive to bring about innovation in training, uncompromised expertise, and commitment to making every trip safer.
The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says it has been an exciting 26 years. “While there were challenging moments, looking back over the almost three decades, it is with pride over what was accomplished. Not only have we grown in our role as a leading driver training provider but also in our efforts to promote road safety in as many ways as is possible.
“Every training session and road safety initiative revolves around MasterDrive’s ‘Why’: ‘Making a difference, one day, one kilometre, one life at a time!’ Thousands of preventable road deaths each year are not just statistics, but lives changed forever. Driver safety, whether because of training or other safety initiatives, turns potential tragedies into safe arrivals home. It gives us a profound sense of purpose and builds our passion for road safety.”
Some of MasterDrive’s achievements over the years:
Colloquiums
Started as a necessity during the pandemic, the Colloquiums soon evolved to be eagerly anticipated and hugely supported events. From first-class speakers that we pride ourselves in finding, to rewards for the audiences, the online events have become a firm favourite of many clients.
Annual magazine
Each year, MasterTorque produces an exclusive annual magazine on behalf of MasterDrive, it is designed to be the guide that fleet professionals keep by their side throughout the year as one navigates the opportunities and challenges of that year. Read the 2025 edition here
African Road Safety Summit (ARSS)
The second ARSS event will be hosted by MasterDrive this year. It is a hybrid event enabling participants in South Africa to attend in person while others across the continent can join virtually. We welcome international, South African and others to share their expertise on issues that African countries experience when promoting road safety.
Fleet Safety Awards
The Awards are already in their fourth year of recognising organisations and fleet managers for their efforts in promoting fleet safety. This year adds two new categories that reward both organisations that are committed to sustainability and those that provide the solutions to implement sustainable solutions within businesses. It promises to be another year of inspirational recognition.
Women with Drive
In its ninth year and on the verge of representing women working in the mobility industry for a decade, Women with Drive will again be a morning not easily forgotten. It is a leading event representative of women in a male-dominated industry.
During our 26th year in business, we have even more to look forward to. “It will be a year where MasterDrive raises the bar for road safety even higher,” says Herbert.
