Excellent collaboration between various role-players resulted in the confiscation of counterfeit goods worth more than R20 million in Burgersfort town on Monday, 26 and Wednesday, 28 May 2025.
It is alleged that on the mentioned date, members of the National Counterfeit Unit, the National Roving Team (TRT), Burgersfort SAPS, and Customs SARS raided more than 10 shops in Burgersfort town and recovered counterfeit goods, including clothing and cosmetics.
The total value of the recovered stock is over R20 million.
Recovered stocks are currently being held by the police.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the team for swiftly operationalizing the information, which led to the recovery of the counterfeit goods. She also sent out a stern warning to communities and the business sector that buy suspected stolen goods.
Receiving or buying stolen goods is an offence, and those found in possession of such goods will be arrested and prosecuted,” remarked General Hadebe”.
Police investigations are ongoing.
