Pedestrian vehicle collision at a stop-and-go section on the R330 towards Hankey

Rapid Emergency Medical Services (REMS) received reports of a pedestrian vehicle accident on the R330 towards Hankey.

Upon arrival, REMS paramedics, in conjunction with Metro EMS, found that a female patient had been struck by a bakkie at a stop-and-go section of road repairs.

Despite warning her coworkers to move out of the way, the patient was unable to react in time and sustained serious injuries.

REMS’ Advanced Life Support practitioner stabilized the patient, who was subsequently transported to a trauma center for further management.

We urge all road users to exercise caution when approaching road repair sites, proceed at safe speeds, obey indicated rules, and remain vigilant for workers performing their duties.
