SAPS arrests suspects in possession of hijacked vehicle and firearm

The vigilance of members attached to the Maitland Flying Squad resulted in the arrest of three suspects, aged between 23 and 32, for the possession of a hijacked vehicle and the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

On Wednesday, 30 April 2025, the members acted rapidly in pursuit of information that a hijacked vehicle, a Suzuki sedan which was taken in Du Noon, Milnerton earlier, was spotted traveling on the N2 freeway. The members pulled over the vehicle near Borchards Quarry where they ensued with a search. They discovered a 7,65 pistol inside the vehicle which was later linked to a firearm reported as stolen in Bishop Lavis during November 2024.

The members subsequently arrested the three suspects who were detained at Bishop Lavis SAPS on the mentioned charges. They are expected to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ court, once charged.
