Seven suspects aged between 18 and 45 were arrested yesterday, 10 May 2025 during Operation Vala Umgodi and are expected to appear at the Sabie and Graskop Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 12 May 2025 facing charges relating to contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa, possession of gold bearing material and possession of illegal mining equipment.
The seven suspects were apprehended by members from the Proactive and Combat team as they conducted a disruptive operation in the Sabie and Graskop area, respectively.
The Police Investigators are working in conjunction with officials from the department of Home Affairs to establish the status of the arrested suspects.
