Western Cape police remain steadfast in their fight against the illegal distribution of firearms to reduce gun violence, prevent crimes, and enhance safety in our communities.
On Wednesday, 14 May 2025, at about 11:20, members attached to Berrydale SAPS received information regarding a person roaming the streets with a firearm. The members swiftly responded to the information received and spotted the person, whose description was given, in Kees Street, Berrydale. They ensued with a search of the suspect and found a PAK firearm in his possession. The 22 year old suspect was subsequently arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
In an unrelated incident on Tuesday, 13 May 2025, at about 09:20, members attached to Harare SAPS received information about a firearm being kept at a premises in Lindela Road, Zwelitsha, Harare. The members quickly responded to the mentioned address where upon arrival, they searched and found a Lorcin 9mm pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition.
An adult male who was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The two suspects will appear in the Berrydale and Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Courts, once charged.
