Phoenix, South Africa – On Sunday morning, 18 May 2025, at approximately 07:59 AM, the KZN VIP Control Centre received reports of a hijacking at a church located in the Clayfield area of Phoenix. KZN VIP Response Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the complainant, who reported that while attending the church service, five African male suspects arrived in a white Volkswagen Polo (registration number unconfirmed). The suspects proceeded to steal his grey Toyota Cross (registration number unconfirmed) from the church parking lot.
As the suspects exited the premises, one of them allegedly pointed a firearm at the onsite security officer before fleeing the scene with the stolen vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The incident has been handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation.
