Members of the Anti-Gang Unit deployed in Hout Bay policing precinct to curb gang violence in the area, seized firearms and ammunition during crime prevention operations on Monday, 16 June 2025.
The members conducted an intelligence driven operation in Salamander Road, Hout Bay during which they arrested an 18-year-old male who was found in possession of a .38 Special revolver without a serial number and a 9mm pistol with 55 rounds of ammunition. He faces charges for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The member proceeded and searched a premises in Rhode Vos Street where they confiscated 63 rounds of ammunition and three magazines. They arrested a 23-year-old female for the illegal possession of ammunition.
During the tracing operation by Anti-Gang Unit detectives, they arrested four adult males who were wanted in connection with charges of murder which occurred in Hout Bay recently.
In addition, members searched a vehicle and confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition which was found inside the driver side door. A 102 inquiry in terms of the Firearms Control Act was registered against the owner of the firearm for failing to carry a firearm in the prescribed manner.
Once charged the suspects will appear in the Simon’s Town Magistrates’ Court.
