Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr. Jackie Macie has today (14 June 2025) addressed the annual Sunriders Bikers Rally. The bikers from all over the country and neighboring countries are converging in Mbombela as part of their annual programme.
MEC Macie impressed upon the riders to use the road safely this weekend. He expressed that so far there were no fatal crashes involving motorbikes .
“We want all bikers and motorists to return safely to their destinations. We all need to understand that roads are a shared spaces. There should be more tolerance and patience among all road users so that we can all be safe,” The MEC said.
He acknowleged the economic spin-offs brought in by the rally as most accommodation places have been fully booked and provision of food . The MEC implored the riders and rally attendees to behave themselves well over the long weekend.
