A tragic and violent incident has shaken the Westham community in Phoenix this evening after an elderly woman was killed and her daughter left in critical condition following a suspected stabbing attack.
KZN VIP Emergency services were called to the residence after a family member arrived and was forced to break into the home. Inside, they discovered the lifeless body of an 80 year old woman and her 62 year old daughter, who had sustained multiple stab wounds.
KZNVIP Medics responded promptly. Despite their efforts, the elderly woman was declared deceased at the scene. The second victim was stabilized on site in critical condition and transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment, with assistance from additional emergency responders.
Two knives were recovered at the scene. At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unknown, and investigations are currently underway by the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The Westham community has been left reeling from the brutality of the attack, with local authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
