A significant breakthrough has been made by a joint Limpopo Task Team comprising members of the Provincial Investigation Unit, Sekhukhune Tracking Team and Investigation Unit, and Groblersdal Public Order Policing Services (POPS). The team executed an intelligence-driven operation in the early hours of Friday, 13 June 2025, which led to the arrest of three suspects, including a most wanted suspect, in connection with the brutal murder of a 40-year-old man.
The deceased was discovered fatally shot on the morning of 25 May 2025, lying in the street along the Luckau MaganagobuĆĄwa gravel road to Makgahle village, within the Hlogotlou policing area, Sekhukhune District.
The operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects aged between 27 and 37, in separate locations across the Hlogotlou policing precinct and recovery of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The first suspect (37) was arrested at Moeding village.
The second suspect (34) was also apprehended in the same area and was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The third suspect (27), believed to be involved in multiple stock theft cases in the Sekhukhune District, was arrested at his homestead and was also found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
During the operation, police also recovered items believed to be belonging to the deceased.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, welcomed the arrests and praised the collaborative efforts of law enforcement units and the community members who provided crucial information that led to this success.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 17 June 2025, where they will face charges including murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Police investigations are ongoing.
