While patrolling the R25 near the Spookheis Bush area, members of the Gauteng Traffic Police and the Gauteng Traffic Wardens (Infrastructure Unit) spotted two individuals actively cutting Transnet railway cables near the Rietvlei River.
Upon noticing law enforcement presence, the suspects fled the scene on foot, abandoning their tools and stolen materials. Officers secured the area and discovered multiple rolls of tampered aluminum railway cables.
