The Mopani District Illicit Mining Task Team in Limpopo Province conducted a targeted operation on Friday, 13 June 2025, aimed at dismantling illegal mining activities within the district.
On Friday, 13 June 2025, at approximately 15:00, during routine patrols along the Nsami River in Mavalani Village, the Police observed five individuals actively engaged in processing gold in the river. Upon approaching the suspects, they dispersed in different directions. One individual, a 25-year-old female Mozambican national, was successfully arrested and is currently in custody, facing charges related to the illegal processing of suspected precious minerals.
