Police confiscate AK47 rifle in Brown’s Farm

Police members attached to Operation Shanela arrested a 39-year-old male when he was found in possession of a AK47 assault rifle with ammunition on Sunday night, 15 June 2025.

The members were conducting stop and search operations in Tyhali Street, Brown’s Farm, Nyanga, when they stopped and searched a vehicle. During the search the members found the AK47 rifle with 13 rounds of ammunition. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ court on Tuesday, 17 June 2025 on the mentioned charges.
