Police members attached to Public Order Policing conducted crime combating initiatives in Nomzamo, Strand on Friday, 20 June 2025 when they responded to the discharged of a firearm in Ndzuzo Street.
The members approached the area on foot when they heard the gunshots being discharged in close proximity to them, which resulted in the tactical approached of the police deployment. They saw an unidentified man running with a firearm in his hand. They apprehended the man and confiscated a pistol with ammunition which led to the detention of the 38-year-old man for the discharge of a firearm in a residential area.
Once charged the suspect is expected to make a court appearance in the Strand Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charge.
