The SAPS Mahwelereng Detectives, in collaboration with K9 Unit, conducted a well-coordinated intelligence-led tactical operation on Friday, 06 June 2025, starting at 06:00. The operation targeted three identified suspects in separate locations, aimed at curbing the proliferation of illicit drugs in the area.
The first phase of the operation was executed in Mosesetjane Village, where a 21-year-old African male was apprehended at his residence. A thorough search of his room led to the recovery of 155 sachets of Nyaope, 57 sachets of Cat, 31 sachets of Crystal Meth and an undisclosed amount of cash
The operation then proceeded to Danisani Sandsloot Village, where a second suspect, a 26-year-old African male, was also apprehended at his homestead. During the search, 46 sachets of Crystal Meth and 13 sachets of Nyaope were seized.
In the final phase, officers moved to Masodi Village, where a 39-year-old African female was arrested. A search of her premises resulted in the recovery of 5 sachets of Nyaope, 2 sachets of Crystal Meth and an undisclosed amount of cash.
All three suspects were detained at Mahwelereng SAPS and are facing charges related to the Contravention of the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act, Act 140 of 1992 – Possession of Prohibited Drugs. The combined estimated street value of the recovered drugs is approximately R10000.00.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court on 09 June 2025.
