UPINGTON – A crime intelligence-driven operation was conducted by members of Upington Border Police, K9 and Customs on Wednesday, 23 July 2025 in the Kakamas area.
The information led to two shops where alleged illicit cigarettes and tobacco with an estimated value of R315 463.00 were discovered and handed over Customs for further investigation.
Three illegal immigrants were also found hiding on the premises and were verified and arrested under the Immigration Act.
Furthermore, the members proceeded to an alleged drug house in Alheit, where they discovered mandrax, tik, and dagga with a total value of R3 650.00, and subsequently led to the arrest of a male foreign national for dealing in drugs.
The police are determined to fight against criminality and use all resources to limit the space for unlawfulness.
