A man fleeing after firing shots outside a nightclub in Umhlanga – KZN overturned his vehicle while being pursued during the early hours of this morning (Saturday).
A private security company operating in Umhlanga – KZN contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance at approximately 03:19 after they encountered resistance from friends of the fleeing suspect in Greenbury – KZN.
Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival found multiple security companies in attendance. It was established that a man fired multiple shots for unknown reasons outside a club in Umhlanga – KZN. He thereafter sped off in a blue Renault Triber.
The vehicle was pursued by Security Officers into Phoenix – KZN. The car overturned on Bowgreen Place during the chase. The suspect became confrontational with Security Officers after approximately ten (10) of his friends arrived. The Officers updated their Control Room who contacted Security Companies operating in the area for assistance.
The suspect and a blank firearm (picture 2) that was discharged outside the nightclub were handed over to the Phoenix SAPS for further investigation.
