Police members in the Western Cape are working tirelessly to ensure that unlicensed and prohibited firearms are taken off our streets
Public Order Police members deployed in the Winelands District conducted stop and search operations in Paarl East on Monday 14 July 2025. At around 23:00 they pounced on an address in Polonaise Street, Groenheuwel where they initiated a search of the property and in the process recovered a firearm and detained two males, aged 31 and 47, for the unlawful possession of a firearm.
Meanwhile Mfuleni police were busy with patrols in the early hours of Tuesday, 15 July 2025, when they noticed a suspicious looking man walking on Main Road in Brentwood Park. They approached the man and searched him, discovered and confiscating a pistol with ammunition which resulted in the detention of the 33-year-old man for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their court appearance in the Paarl and Blue Downs Magistrates’ courts respectively on the mentioned charges.
