Police intensify manhunt for suspects who fatally shot 50-year-old man in Mankweng

Police in Mankweng have launched a manhunt for two unknown suspects following the fatal shooting of a 50-year-old man along the R71 road, near an overnight accommodation facility, on Sunday night, 06 July 2025, at around 23:30.

Police were summoned to the scene and, upon arrival, found a white sedan vehicle that had veered off the road and landed in a ditch. The driver, a male victim, was discovered with gunshot wounds and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was shot while inside the vehicle by two unknown suspects who then fled the scene on foot. Witnesses allege that the suspects were speaking Zulu.

A case of murder has been opened, and police are appealing to members of the public who may have information that could assist in the investigation or lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the Investigating Officer Sergeant Samuel Malemela at 076 749 8403, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or use the MySAPSApp.

Investigations are continuing.
