KZNVIP Control Centre received a call from a Whetstone resident who reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area, at 19h20PM on 20 July 2025.
All available KZN VIP Response Officers were immediately dispatched to the location.
Upon arrival, officers established that an attempted hijacking had occurred at a nearby property. According to the victim, as he was entering his premises in a silver Toyota Corolla, a white vehicle (make, model, and registration unknown) stopped behind him. Four armed male suspects exited the vehicle.
The victim stated that he drove into the yard to avoid the suspects, but they pursued him on foot. When he resisted, the suspects forcibly removed him and his daughter from the vehicle and assaulted them. The suspects fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene.
The victim’s vehicle was not taken. KZN VIP Medical Teams were dispatched and assessed both victims on scene.
SAPS was in attendance and further investigations are underway.
