Earlier this morning, Mi7’s Control Room Operators received a distress call from a resident on Longmarket Street in the Pietermaritzburg CBD. The caller (a non-client) reported a suspect on the property and was in a state of panic, requesting urgent assistance.
Mi7 Reaction Officers patrolling nearby were immediately dispatched while controllers kept the resident on the line and reassured them that assistance was on the way.
Reaction Officers arrived promptly, and caught the suspect in the act. He was found on the premises in possession of several stolen items – including electrical cables and other components stripped from an air-conditioning unit. He attempted to flee, but Mi7 teams detained him after a short chase.
The matter was handed over to the police for further investigation.
