While conducting routine patrols, members of the Gauteng Traffic Police and Gauteng Traffic Wardens STT (Eastern Corridor) received information about a male suspect allegedly selling drugs in Winnie Mandela Section.
Officers responded and apprehended the suspect, who was found in possession of suspected crystal meth. Continuing with stop-and-search operations in the area, members searched another male and recovered suspected Mandrax pills.
In a separate operation in Emangweni Section, officers conducting stop-and-search duties noticed a group of males walking along the road. Upon seeing the police, the group attempted to flee.
Two suspects were apprehended and found in possession of dangerous weapons and an unlicensed firearm.
Further patrols and follow-up information led officers to a house in Emangweni Section, where another suspect , identified as one of the males who had earlier fled , was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the recovered firearm had been stolen during a house robbery in July 2025.
In total, five suspects were arrested and are currently detained at Tembisa SAPS.
