The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Taxi Violence Combating Team (TVCT), South African Police Service (SAPS) and Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP) Officers, conducted a joint operation in the Bedfordview area.
The operation resulted in eighteen (18) taxis being impounded on Nicole road, which were found unroadworthy and with other multiple offences. The taxis were taken to Benoni pound for safe keeping.
These operations will be ongoing law enforcement operations on taxi-related transport, that seek to ensure compliance with the National Road Traffic Act and to address lawlessness in public transport in the City of Ekurhuleni.
