A devastating house fire in the early hours of the morning (Saturday) claimed the life of an 81-year-old resident of Reservoir Avenue in Ghandi’s Hill, Tongaat – KZN.
At approximately 03:38, the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Tongaat Operations Centre received a call from a man reporting his elderly father’s house engulfed in flames.
Upon arrival, Reaction Officers found the Ethekwini Fire Department in attendance. Firefighters extinguished the blaze only to uncover the charred remains of the elderly man still in his bed.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this stage.
