Motorists travelling northbound on the R102 in Ottawa – KZN were met with a concerning situation when two cows were spotted between the northbound and southbound lanes, causing a potential hazard.
The incident, reported to the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre by multiple motorists, revealed that one of the cows had sustained injuries likely resulting from a vehicle collision.
Upon arrival, Reaction Officers observed that the injured cow had a broken left horn and a deep laceration to its left hind leg. Both cows managed to cross into the southbound lane, eventually disappearing into dense bush. Debris believed to be from the vehicle involved in the accident was discovered on the scene.
First Responders located the herdsman (picture 4). He stated that the owner will arrange veterinary care for the injured animal.
