On Saturday evening, the Old East Safety Forum received a call for assistance following a pedestrian-vehicle accident on the N4 East before the Donkerhoek off-ramp. An unidentified female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the road, sustaining serious injuries.
Our volunteer community responders, together with Pretoria Volunteer Emergency Services practitioners, were first on scene and provided urgent medical care. The patient was stabilised after treatment for multiple injuries and handed over to Gauteng Emergency Medical Services paramedics, who continued advanced life support before transporting her to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
