Police members deployed in the City of Cape Town recovered drugs and firearm with ammunition, in isolated incidents on Monday, 25 August 2025. They, in the process detained three males for dealing in drugs and the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Police members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team and Provincial Counterfeit and Illicit Goods policing team, posted in Grassy Park policing precinct, were busy with patrols when they responded to information about suspicious activities at a premises in the vicinity. The members proceeded to 4th Ave in Lotus River and entered the property. Upon searching the premises, they discovered and confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R 120 000.00. They detained a 55-year-old foreign national man for dealing in drugs.
Meanwhile Delft police conducted an operation led by the Station Commander, when they approached a home in Freedom Farm and saw two males who fled in different directions. The police members gave chase on foot and apprehended one male and recovered a 9mm pistol with ammunition, which led to his detention for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
In an unrelated intervention, police members attached to the POCC, followed up on information about a foreign national dealing in drugs. The members approached the identified address in Grassy Park, searched the premises and confiscated a consignment of drugs. They detained an adult man for dealing in drugs.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Wynberg and Bellville Magistrates’ courts, on the mentioned charges.
