Lejweleputswa District, joined by other stakeholders, kicked off #OperationBasadi under the umbrella of #operationshanela2 today, 7 August 2025, on the N1 road near Ventersburg. The roadblock operation was led by Brigadier Disebo Cezula.
Female members from various stations within the Lejweleputswa District, specialised units, the Department of Home Affairs, and Provincial Traffic intensified the multidisciplinary actions through stop and searches, and compliance checks. The operation was targeted at combating possession of stolen property, possession of stolen vehicles, unlicensed firearms, illegal immigration, and unroadworthy vehicles, as well as creating awareness around crimes committed against women.
More than 500 vehicles were searched during this operation. The operation resulted in fines being issued for traffic violations and the arrest of persons for contravention of the Immigration Act.
Members engaged with motorists and distributed educational pamphlets.
