Between 19 Tuesday and Wednesday 20 August 2025, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers and K9 Unit Officers, arrested sixteen (16) suspects for possession of illegal substances, in the City of Ekurhuleni.
Following up on information about individuals selling substances in the community. Officers arrested one (1) female and eleven (11) male suspects between the ages of twenty (20) and forty-six (46) year, for possession of seventeen (17) x ziplock bags of Cat, fourteen (14) ziplock bags of crystal meth, seven (7) Mandrax, sixty-seven (67) ziplock bags of Cannabis (dagga) and one (1) black plastic full of Cannabis (dagga), all with an estimated streetvalue of eight thousand Rands (R8000).
Furthermore, the other four (4) male suspects were arrested for contravention of the Immigration Act (Act 13 of 2002). When officers asked for any form of identification, the suspects could not produce anything.
All sixteen (16) suspects were arrested and taken to their respective police stations, facing charges of possession of illegal substances and illegal immigration. They are expected to appear at their respective Magistrate’s Court soon.
