Smithfield SAPS have opened a case of armed robbery and theft of a motor vehicle following a violent incident at a farm

Smithfield SAPS have opened a case of armed robbery and theft of a motor vehicle following a violent incident at a farm, on the evening of 30 August 2025.

It is alleged that between 20:30 and 23:40, three unknown armed males gained entry to the farm by cutting through a fence near the locked gates. The suspects then went to the residence of a 53-year-old male farm worker, who was asleep at the time. They forced entry into the house and demanded the keys to a vehicle parked on the property.

After obtaining the keys, two of the suspects entered the garage and drove off in a white Toyota Hilux (registration number: DSB 071 FS). The suspects also stole household items during the robbery.

The victim did not sustain visible injuries but was transported to a medical facility for treatment for shock.

The necessary role players were activated, and the crime scene was processed. The suspects remain at large, and investigations are continuing.
