Last month, Mi7 Specialised Threat Response Unit (STRU) members received information regarding a Toyota Hilux that had reportedly been stolen from a property. The matter had been reported to the police, and Mi7 was asked to assist in locating the vehicle.
Earlier this afternoon, while conducting routine patrols along the R33, Mi7 STRU teams spotted a Toyota Hilux matching the description of the stolen vehicle. The vehicle appeared to have been rebranded, possibly in an effort to disguise it.
The Mi7 Control Room was immediately notified, and a vehicle verification was conducted on scene. It was confirmed that the vehicle was linked to an active case in Kwadabeka, and also matched the registration details of the stolen vehicle.
Mi7 units safely intercepted the vehicle, and police were called to the location. The driver, a female, claimed she was unaware the vehicle was stolen. Police are investigating further.
