Stolen Vehicle Recovered in Rosehaven, Phoenix

Just after 00h35 AM on 5 August 2025, a KZNVIP Reaction Officer reported whilst on routine patrol he noticed 3 African male suspects alight from a Toyota tazz and jump into another vehicle and flee.

He immediately alerted the KZNVIP Control Centre, and additional Response Officers were dispatched to assist.

Upon arrival, KZNVIP officers found the vehicle abandoned with its doors and bonnet left open. It was later confirmed that as the officer attempted to turn around and investigate, the suspects fled the scene, jumping into a getaway vehicle and leaving the Toyota behind.

A vehicle check was conducted through 10111, which returned negative, indicating the vehicle had not yet been reported stolen. However, it closely matched the description of a suspected stolen vehicle.

While SAPS was en route, KZN VIP Officers began searching the surrounding area for the vehicle owner. The owner was successfully located at a nearby property on Palmhaven and was unaware that the vehicle had been stolen. He was escorted to the scene and presented valid documentation to confirm ownership.

SAPS arrived on scene and confirmed the vehicle’s details. A case of attempted theft of a motor vehicle was opened.
