While conducting routine patrols and crime prevention duties in Tembisa, the Gauteng Traffic Police and Wardens (STT) received a tip-off from a community member about a suspect in possession of an illegal firearm.
After following up on the information, officers proceeded to the given address where they recovered:
– 1 unlicensed firearm
– 1 magazine and
– 1 bullet of pallet gun
– Multiple bank cards that did not belong to the suspect
– Various stolen items, including wedding rings
Further investigation linked the firearm box to a serious crime case thats was reported a month ago, where it was allegedly taken during a rape incident. The suspect was arrested on the spot and handed over to Olifantsfontein SAPS for detention.
