The co-operation agreement between members attached to Western Cape Flying Squad and Metro Police to stop the illegal distribution of drugs and to put the perpetrators of the law behind bars yielded positive results when they arrested five suspects (two females and three males) aged between 24 and 32 for possession of mandrax.
On 31 July 2025 at about 14:30, members followed up on information received about a silver VW Polo with drugs in it at a fast food retailer at a shopping mall in Robert Sobukwe Road, Ravensmead. The members immediately operationalised the information and found the five suspects with 6000 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R240 000 at the mentioned address.
The suspects are due to appear in the Bellville Magistrate Court on Monday, 04 August 2025, for the mentioned charges.
In an unrelated matter, Delft SAPS members arrested a 28-year-old male for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on 01 August 2025 at 11:30 in Abedare Street, N2 Gateway, Delft. The members received information about a male with a firearm in his possession at the mentioned address. They immediately acted upon the information received, and on their arrival at the address, the suspect fitting the description jumped the fence, and the members gave chase. The suspect was found in the neighboring property with a 9mm firearm and eight rounds of ammunition in his possession.
He is due to appear in the Bellville Magistrates court on Monday, 04 August 2025, for the mentioned charge.
