The collaboration between community members, media and the police enabled the swift arrest of the suspect who was circulated as a person of interest earlier today.
The person of interest, who is now a suspect in a domestic violence related Murder, theft of motor vehicle and theft, was arrested in Botshabelo G-Section at about 12:25.
The suspect is expected to make his first appearance in Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 14 August 2025.
Initial statement:
The police in Bloemspruit are looking for Mojalefa Tsoanyane (34), a person of interest in a fatal stabbing of a woman in Phase 9 outside Bloemfontein.
On Monday 11 August 2025, the police were called to a scene of crime discovered by neighbours after getting worried that they hadn’t seen Cony Dipuo Saohatse (40) at her home for a while.
Before calling the police, the concerned neighbours had already gone to Cony’s home, broke open the window, and noticed her lying motionless in the bedroom.
The police arrived and secured the scene. It was also discovered that two sets of televisions were removed from the house. Mojalefa Tsoanyane was the last person seen driving away from Cony’s home, in her Blue Hyundai Getz. A case of Murder with an additional charge of Theft was opened at Bloemspruit Police Station, and Mojalefa is considered as the person who might help the police with the investigation.
Any member of the public who might know where the police can find Mojalefa Tsoanyane, is requested to contact Lieutenant Colonel Rankhala David Ramasoala at 082 527 7390. Alternatively, the information can be submitted on the #MySAPSApp or call the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
