A multi -disciplinary team acted on information and recovered two firearms with ammunition and a consignment of alcohol in Ocean View on Wednesday, 13 August 2025 and in the process detained two males for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition and one female for dealing in liquor without a valid permit.
The police members conducted an intelligence driven operation in a bid to address the contributors of crime in the policing precinct. The members pursued the information at their disposal and tactically approached an address in Masiphumelele. Upon entering the house, they found two males and a female upon which a search ensued which resulted in the recovery of a 9mm pistol as well as a .38 special revolver with ammunition. They detained two males aged 27 and 23 for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. The female became restless and was brought under control when the police members noticed a consignment of alcohol hidden on the premises. The 18-year-old female could not produce a valid licence to be in possession of the alcohol which led to her detention for dealing in liquor without a valid permit.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Simonstown Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charges.
