In the period, between 25 and 31 August 2025, Eastern Cape police conducted 61 high-density operations, deploying 14,929 personnel in 89,693 actions that were executed to address proliferation of illegal firearms, the prevention of murders and other serious crimes such as cash-in-transit robberies. A total of 953 suspects were nabbed, and 23 unlicenced firearms confiscated during these actions.
Operations conducted include the following: Vehicle check points conducted (627), Roadblocks manned (30), Tracing of wanted suspects operations (229) and Spaza shops inspections (13 683).
The following arrests have been made: Contravention of the Firearms Control Act (35), Possession of unlicenced firearms (24), Dealing in drugs (44), Illegal dealing in liquor (50), Contravention of the 2nd Hand Goods Act (20), Possession of illicit drugs (141), Murder (19), Rape (9), Assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (199), Assault common (98) and Drunk driving (101).
