A 55-year-old man was injured during a mugging in the Verulam Central Business District (CBD) after being attacked from the rear by a lone suspect this morning (Monday).
The victim had just disembarked from a bus and was walking along George Sewpersad Street en route to a dental appointment when he was grabbed from the rear by an unknown suspect. The force of the attack caused the man to fall to the ground, resulting in a head injury.
The suspect made off with the victim’s Samsung A05 smartphone and R50 in cash. The injured male thereafter sought assistance at Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Headquarters where he received First Aid for his injuries.
Due to the sudden nature of the attack, the victim was unable to provide Reaction Officers with a description of the suspect.
