NGCOBO – A 29-year-old man will appear before Ngcobo Magistrate’s Court today, 02 September 2025 on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm, following his arrest in the CBD. The same suspect was also linked to a case of murder, and will be processed for court on Wednesday, 03 September 2025.
It is alleged that on Monday evening, 01 September 2025 around 19:00, Ngcobo Crime Prevention Unit was conducting routine patrols around Ngcobo CBD, when they received information about someone in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The members proceeded to the said location and spotted the person fitting the description. On searching him, police found him in possession of an unlicensed silver firearm, and he was arrested.
A preliminary investigation was conducted, which linked him to a murder incident that occurred at Cobosi Administration Area in August this year (2025).
Chris Hani District Commissioner, Major General Rudolph Adolph lauded members for their swift action. Police are encouraging communities to always share valuable information about any criminal activities,” concluded Maj Gen Adolph.
