On Thursday morning, 04 September 2025, Durban Metro Police Service Bylaw Unit members witnessed a serious collision on the N3 freeway near Cliffdale involving a truck that veered across lanes and collided with multiple vehicles before coming to rest on the center median.
Our officers immediately stopped to assist motorists at the scene. While doing so, they were alerted that the truck driver had abandoned the vehicle and was fleeing on foot. The officers pursued and successfully apprehended the driver, who was later confirmed to be a foreign national with valid documentation.
The suspect was handed over to Hammarsdale SAPS, and a case of Reckless and Negligent Driving was opened. The vehicle, a Zambian-registered truck belonging to Dama Ventures Ltd, had valid cross-border permits
