OR TAMBO DISTRICT – OR Tambo police continued with their mandate of fighting the proliferation of prohibited/unlicensed firearms as they yet again recovered four (04) prohibited/unlicensed firearms in Lusikisiki and Mthatha from Friday, 05 September until Saturday, 06 September 2025.
In Gabelana locality – Lusikisiki, the District Task Team arrested two male suspects, a 66-year-old male suspect was found in possession of two homemade Shotguns with two live shells whilst a 51-year-old male suspect of Ginvale locality was found in possession of a shotgun with ammunition.
In another unrelated incident in Mthatha, OR Tambo Stock Theft Prevention Task Team arrested a 30-year-old male suspect of Makawula locality in Baziya – Mthatha for possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol (serial number erased) after stopping a taxi and searching its three male occupants at Mampingeni locality – Baziya on Saturday, 06 September 2025 at about 23:30.
The trio will appear before Magistrate Courts of their jurisdictions on Monday, 08 September 2025 facing their respective charges.
