Bohlokong police have arrested a suspect after he was caught transporting an injured man inside a wheelie bin to a house in Phase 7, allegedly linked to a dispute over a stolen cellphone.
At about 08:00 on 22 September 2025, police on patrol in 9th Avenue noticed a man pushing a black wheelie bin. On stopping him, officers discovered another man inside the bin, bleeding profusely.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect and the victim had argued over a cellphone the suspect had allegedly taken and sold. The suspect was reportedly taking the injured victim to the buyer’s house in Phase 7 when police intervened.
The victim had sustained a deep cut behind his left knee, allegedly from corrugated iron while trying to flee, and had multiple bruises on his body. Paramedics removed him from the bin, but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries while being stabilized.
A case of murder is under investigation. The suspect will appear before the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, facing a charge of murder.
