Suspects arrested for the unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition, and suspected stolen property

1. On Wednesday, 03 September 2025, information was received from Crime Intelligence regarding individuals allegedly in possession of unlicensed firearms and involved in serious crimes including murder and truck-jacking in Umlazi, Folweni, Isipingo and surrounding areas.

2. Intelligence revealed that suspects were linked to a murder in Folweni and had fled to a property in James Avenue, Isipingo, which was being used as a hideout. The suspects were reported to be moving around the area in a bronze Toyota Hilux, a Hyundai i10, and a Suzuki.

3. On Friday, 05 September 2025, further intelligence confirmed the presence of the suspects at the property. An immediate intelligence-led operation was planned.

4. On Saturday morning, 06 September 2025, the operation was executed at the identified address.

During the operation, firearms and ammunition were recovered, including:

1. A pistol with no serial number.

2. A Glock pistol with a magazine and live rounds, confirmed as sought in connection with an armed robbery.

3. Tuya intelligent alarm devices and DHL waybills linked to an ongoing truck-jacking investigation.

The suspects were arrested and will be facing charges related to unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition, and suspected stolen property. They will further be linked to ongoing investigations into murder and truck-jacking cases.
