Suspects arrested to curb the illicit drug trade and gang violence in Mitchell’s Plain

Crime combatting operations to stop the illicit drug trade and gang violence in Mitchell’s Plain, saw the arrest of two suspects when they were caught with dagga.

Members of #operationshanela2 were conducting foot patrols at Mitchell’s Plain Town Centre, when they stopped and searched a male and found 40 stops of dagga and an undisclosed amount of cash in his possession. The 37-year-old Malawian national, faces a charge for dealing in dagga.

Furthermore, the members conducted stop and search operations in Lagonda Crescent and arrested a 42-year-old man when they found him in possession of 90 transparent plastic packets containing dagga, 16 dagga cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash. He faces a charge for dealing in dagga.

The suspects are due to make their respective court appearances in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ court today, Friday 12 September 2025.
