BLOEMFONTEIN – Two suspects aged 34 and 35, will appear in Bloemfontein Magistrate Court on an Extortion charge. A case docket of Extortion was opened at Kopanong Police Station on Tuesday, 23 September 2025. This is after a complaint was received from Bene-tech Service Delivery Business, about suspects who arrived at the construction site, chased away security officers, and communicated demands to the 43-year-old victim. It is alleged that the suspects demanded that the complaint appoint them as subcontractors.
Kopanong Detective Branch Commander Lieutenant Colonel Sias Smit briefed a team made up of Crime Prevention Unit and Public Order Police (POP) Unit members, on details of the case docket and the identified suspects. The team then operationalised the information, and two (2) males from Freedom Square in Mangaung were arrested on Wednesday 24 September 2025. The suspects are expected to appear in court tomorrow, Friday 26 September 2025.
