The JMPD arrested two suspects and confiscated a significant quantity of drugs, cash, and drug-related paraphernalia

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department’s Tactical Response Unit (TRU) successfully arrested two suspects and confiscated a significant quantity of drugs, cash, and drug-related paraphernalia during a proactive patrol operation.

On Thursday, 05 September 2025, JMPD TRU members were conducting patrols in the Jeppestown area when they observed a male acting suspiciously. Officers approached the individual, identified themselves, and requested to conduct a search. During the search, officers discovered a black plastic packet in his pocket containing 220 small foil balls, which were positively identified as rock cocaine.

The suspect, a Nigerian national, informed officers that his passport was at his residence. Officers proceeded to the location with the suspect, where they entered a room and found a second male, a Cameroonian national. While waiting for the suspects to produce their passports, officers noticed a large amount of foil wrapping scattered throughout the premises. A further inspection of the room led to the discovery of a substantial quantity of drugs, identified as Nyaope, along with scales, packaging materials, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The duo were arrested and detained at Jeppe SAPS on charges of dealing in narcotics. They are due to appear in court soon.
